FOUNDATION FUNDS RECREATION SCHOLARSHIPS
At the June 5th City Council meeting, Foundation President Randy Schwartz (left) presented Burlingame’s Mayor Ricardo Ortiz with a $5,000 donation from the Foundation to provide recreation program scholarships. These scholarships will primarily be used to allow Burlingame children from low income families to participate in vacation camp or afterschool programs. 20% of Burlingame’s elementary school children are eligible for the free or reduced lunch program.

BOCCE TOURNAMENT WAS A GREAT EVENT!!
Thank you to everyone who participated in or donated to the Foundation’s 2nd annual bocce tournament. This fun/fundraiser supported youth scholarships, parks improvements and new recreation programs. Papa Joe’s team came in first place, Lisa’s team came in second, Dave Pine’s team came in third, but the real winner was the Burlingame community who benefits from improved parks and recreation services. We hope to see you at next year’s tournament.
HELPING YOUTH BASEBALL
In the past few months, the Burlingame Youth Baseball Association (BYBA) made major improvements to the baseball dugouts and fences at Bayside Park. BYBA is an all-volunteer non-profit organization dedicated to building Community through Baseball by providing a positive baseball experience for over 500 Burlingame boys and girls, ages 5-14. The Burlingame Parks & Recreation Foundation assisted in this effort with a $2,000 donation. In addition to the donation to BYBA, the Foundation has recently made contributions to Mills Canyon and the Bayside Dog Park.
EQUIPMENT DONATION TO THE DOG PARK
The Burlingame Parks and Recreation Foundation recently donated a new piece of agility equipment to the Dog Park at Bayside Park. This new professional quality tunnel is a few feet above the ground and great for both exercise and training. Please contact the Foundation at email@example.com with any feedback about the tunnel, or if you are interested in donating another piece of equipment to the park.
